Just a quick update for now, to say that I’m on traverse! Things are going well, just haven’t had time to put together a proper post yet. We’re keeping up a good pace, and have crossed the halfway point in terms of distance between Scott Base and KIS3.

Currently, we’re following a “road” marked with flags every couple hundred metres, which is used by the South Pole Overland Traverse aka SPOT. In a few days, we’ll turn off the SPOT road and go a few hundred km further to the KIS3 camp site.

Aside from the first day of driving, conditions haven’t been great in terms of surface definition - there’s been some combination of flat lighting and low level blowing snow, so my view from the front vehicle typically looks something like this:
