Hi, I’m Ian.

I spend a lot of my time (and generally enjoy) working on machines; mainly electronic and software machines, but also mechanical ones. I also spend a bit of time (and generally enjoy) doing mammalian things like sleeping and eating.

Currently I live way down South in Dunedin, New Zealand, but I am originally from Northeast Georgia in the USA. I also lived for a while in Colorado, and have spent some time in Antarctica. This blog shares some of my own thoughts and experiences; it is mainly intended for friends and family, and is in no way official nor related to my employer.

Since some of the topics I post about are a bit niche, and sometimes get a bit close to my professional life, I have set up a few distinct “views” in to my blog (more in this post). You are currently reading the view that includes all posts, so is somewhat private and I’d appreciate a degree of discression in sharing links to these posts.
