Hi, I’m Ian.

Through a lucky and strange series of events in the early 2000s, my career includes a few periods working in Antarctica. I have had some rather different roles on The Ice, for the US Antarctic Program (USAP) as both a support contractor and as a grantee, and with Antarctica New Zealand. This blog shares some of my own thoughts and experiences relating to work and life in Antarctica; it is mainly intended for friends and family, and is in no way official nor related to my employer.

The blog iteself is generated using a Ruby program called Jekyll - I’m a complete Ruby novice and haven’t learned much modern web tech, so apologies for any difficulties you might encounter while reading this blog or as a result of reading this blog.
